An American Company producing motor yachts available in lengths from 30 to 37 feet, based in Rockland, Maine, by the name of Back Cove was inspired in his designs by the lobster fishing boats.
They build three models, the 30, 34 and 37.
The style of the Down East lobster boat is closely associated with Maine’s proud boat building heritage. The Back Cove 30 is a grand example of everything that makes the Down East lobster boat a work of art. She has a traditional spoon bow and her transom is gently sloped: a style that will turn heads in any harbor she enters.
LOA 30’ 6” (9.3m) Beam 11’ 2”’ (3.4m) Draft 2.6’ (0.76m). You know how much is something like this sold on yachtworld? The unbelievably price of $240 k.
Back Cove 34 is a cruising yacht with the same simple features, usability and maintenance of the Back Cove brand.
Length: 33’5″ / 10.19m, Beam: 12’0″ / 3.66m, Draft: 3’0″ / 9.1m with a 450 HP Cummins M/E.
The Back Cove 37 is the largest Back Cove to date. Their goal of designing simple, low maintenance boats that are easy on the eyes, easy on yard expenses and easy on the fuel bills, has been attained (they say), with over 300 Back Coves in operation around the world today and the fleet growing rapidly. It’s too expensive.
I have a M/E as well, which looks very good, on this 2012 model. No price, I’m afraid.
A Cummins QSB 5.9 480 hp electronic engine and marine gear with electronic single lever engine control, a digital engine control panel with alarms and hour meter. Nice.
Between the lower and salon sole levels, there is a mid-galley fully equipped with a (2) drawer refrigerator, a freezer , microwave and deep stainless steel sink as well as many drawers and lockers for galley storage. Large windows overhead give the galley ample visibility and light. I think they’re joking.
