I know someone who claims that there’s no good customer or bad customer. All customers are equal. You just work with some more than you work with others. To sell a yacht, is work. To buy a yacht isn’t that consuming, everything being determined by the budget. An important thing, you fellow yacht brokers and friends. You have to know the budget before starting any negotiation in the name of a customer. You lead the game, you, the broker, not the customer. If is not you who leads the game, you play a lost game. The customer is going to cut you off of your commission.
A good customer is not the one who is eager to throw his money to your product without checking it or being sure it is worth it. If anyone does this, something is not true, the money is false, or there is a scam pending somewhere on the road of the deal.
A good customer is the one who believe what you told him in order to sell the worthless item. He proved himself to be good, when you told him that he’s buying a cheap thing and he agreed and paid the advance, which in any brainy contract, he’s never going to see back if the deal is off for any reason, and is going to pay for all the possible expenses and something is still left for you, before the rest of the money, the gross part of them, is going to fill your bank account. The advance can be ten or fifteen percents. There is no way to find the perfect product, to sell it cheap enough to please your customer. So, if you can convince the buyer to buy, you have to get the ten percents. If he changes his mind, he looses the ten percent. You may want another five. If he’s willing to pay them, the deal is as done, whenever you fix the due date for the last payment. Of course, if the customer don’t want to pay the advance, the meaning is that he’s not going to finalize the deal, he’s delusional, or he wants just to have fun, because you spend a lot of time with him in the first place and maybe no one has ever treated him like that, before you came along and took him seriously. If there is no hope to see the ten percents, don’t spend a dime, and cut it short. Over charge him every little service, make him to pay double everything on the process, meal, transport, lodging, everything, even the water he’s drinking. There is no way to let yourself be cheated in offering a nice holiday to someone who’s laughing at you.
I have to tell you also, what a good broker is, but this will happen in a future post. I’ll continue with the list of all yacht manufacturers, alphabetically, with the models they build, all the models this time, not an abbreviated version as before. I’ll present extended chapters on each. I’m more of a brand recommending type, than the Turkish “no name” with a lot of mahogany and without useful sails, type. I’m sure you understand. There aren’t many Turkish boats I liked, they just look fine, some of them, at least. Wait for my posts, I’d like to make them more often. I know I’m at almost the very beginning of this blog and with all his parking somehow on Blogspot for an year, there aren’t many comments to it, but to know better your desires, I think I need them. I can also express my desires here, fix the book, and sell it. No discussion, no contact, strictly business. I want to transform this site in a palace for all the yachtsmen, as I’ve already stated here. Place, palace, just the same.
