This is the first company on my list. It’s alphabetical, not ordered by value or price. I’m not going to restrain myself if I may have any independent thought regarding yacht manufacturers, all of them. As a small disclaimer, I shall mention that I am using their pictures, their descriptions and their “copy”, most of the time without their express permission, and since I’m going to have some business proposals for most of them, I don’t have problems with that. This is not advertising, but if any person responsible with one or another yacht builder site’s marketing will have a question with my presentations here, I ask them to look at their ranking and than to look at this blog’s ranking. I’m talking Alexa, not Google PR. Anyway, any further advertising arrangements will be discussed separately and are not making the object of my presentation articles. After all, this is a blog, not a merchant site!
So, I’m starting with Aquastar, a company whose boatyard is in Guernsay, claiming more than forty years of experience in yacht building. Their website is an 8,324,288 Alexa, today when I’m writing all this. They consider themselves, they are building luxury motor yachts.
This can’t be denied, they continue to boast around this over and over: The oceans of the world were ploughed in the 1980’s to the present day by state of the art, inspired, stabilized motor yachts which are respected the world over [sic]. “In this time we have developed a thorough understanding of what our owners require along with an unchallenged marine engineering expertise. We continue to build a range of models from 38 to 85ft and our skilled and committed staff share our ethos of first class workmanship.”
This is to be seen! Their website is a flash one and most companies choose to show something like that to their potential customers. It’s a matter of tastes, actually. I wonder when I’m going to find engine and engine room pics to their yachts, and here I’m generally speaking, not only by Aquastar (Aqua-star on Yachtworld.com).
They kidnapped the Sunseeker Predator’s 120′ model designer Mark Tucker to work for them, and they employed the services of Ken Freivokh as well. They say these are reasons to choose an Aquastar. But there are other good reasons for choosing an Aquastar. By siting engines and fuel tanks amidships the major weight is located away from the extremes providing balance and a superior ride across the speed range without the bow riding up and slamming. Customers who have moved from planing boats appreciate these benefits.
As a website, they’re not at all inviting, but their physical address is:
Ocean Yard, Bulwer Avenue, St. Sampsons, Guernsey. Channel Islands. GY2 4LE, UK.
Except a few, I have extracted all the pictures from the “wonderful” site.

The pics about every model presented, are like this one, :), some of them are graphics, some of them are just models in miniature. Anyone interested may consult other sources than the “official website”, :).
This last one, Aquastar 85, is the bigger, or the larger, depending how you would name an almost 26 meter LOA motor yacht, :). Prices are ranging between £ 27,500 for a 32′ (9.75 m) model not even present in their site, to £ 985,000 for a 47′ (14.32 m), according to their brokerage page. I didn’t dig into boating.com, or yachtworld.com for prices.
The design, the interior I mean, isn’t bad at all.
Classy, but I think still over priced as a whole. Over $ 1,500,000 for a 22.5 m LOA is a little bit too much for my tastes. We all know, that selling is an art, I have made some big chunks in the past speculating customer’s emotions, but with normal people, meaning by normal “not billionaires”, reason must be applied. Billionaires are no fool, that’s for sure, but they are other class altogether. To deviate from Aquastar ( a water park name rather than a serious yacht company name), the mistakes a great majority of brokers do, is considering all their potential customers billionaires. I’m going to show you in another post, some “presentation” excerpts, quite hilarious.
Of course I haven’t found engine pics on the site, so I’m afraid I have to poke through forums and maybe even amateur yachtworld pics, 🙂
I’m actually impressed of how clean and compact is this marvel of Caterpillar. I don’t know why they don’t show this kind of pics on the main site as well, because you know, their dream is to sell themselves, not the brokers. My wish is all the same, :). Unfortunately, the “legendary Aquastar 38” is about €179,500 in Holland, with it’s 11 and something meters LOA.
Quite “luxurious”, isn’t it? It is something, and it’s not good. Anyway, keep in mind that it’s not a bad company, the merchandise is clean, but somehow there are too many expenses draining for their merchandise. Other thing not very good is that they were never famous, and the look is not quite modern, but that’s the reason they are so rare, and quite a dump as an investment.
I said what I said in the disclaimer, to help them, to help anybody by the way. When the floating yachts will fly, a little bit more money can be spent to purchase them. Maybe the time will come, but now, a yacht is a different commodity itself, we can’t just “park” it in front of our flat, can we, now?
