Grand Soleil is a sailing yachts’ brand built in Cantiere del Pardo, Bologna, Italy, since 1974, when they launched the model 34. This one was designed by Finot, a French group. In time, they collaborate with German Frers, Bruce Farr, Japec Jakopin and Luca Brenta, all famous world boat designers.
They build at the moment, five models, the 39, the 43, the 47, the 50 and the 54.

The construction methods applied to GS 43, have taken full advantage of the latest technological innovations. Hull and deck are of sandwich construction, the internal grid pan is made with carbon fiber layers so as to keep the boat lightweight whilst guaranteeing maximum stiffness and resistance to torsional loads.

The hull and deck are built in sandwich construction. The hull is laminated through the process of vacuum-bag infusion, the internal grid pan is made of a composite of carbon and glass fiber thus allowing, together with the integrated bulwark, the GS 47´ to be stiff and rigid, yet lighter than low tech alternatives. The efficient T-shape keel, which lowers the center of gravity, ensures maximum safety and comfort when cruising and the best performance while racing.

One of my favorite things when I find engine pics on the yacht brand’s original site. Usually only brokers are exposing them, and that only when the Engine Room looks perfect in their opinion.
It must to be very good, because the prices are unbelievable. I saw a new GS 47 with almost $600k, and a few GS 40 with €80k or €100k. I´ve seen a 50 with $300k, an urgent sale, I suppose. It is not cheap at all, but the boats look fine.
