Genoa International Boat Show (in Italian, in original: Salone Nautico Internazionale di Genova) is one of the world’s premier boat shows, held annually in Genoa, Italy, typically during the month of October. It’s 2015 when I write this article, so this year, the show is held between September 30’th to October 5’th. The exhibition is organized by Fiera di Genova SpA and UCINA, Italy’s professional association of the yachting industry, and takes place at Fieristico, as well as parts of the old town and port of Genoa.
Gateway to the Mediterranean and capital of its own Republic for over seven centuries, Genoa is known by the nickname Superba (Superb). It is a city that will excite you from the very first encounter: visitors arriving by sea or air first glimpse it rising out of its watery amphitheater, standing out against the mountains.

Its port remains the most important in Italy, as well as one of the largest in the Mediterranean and Europe. The symbol of the city is its lighthouse, located next to the old port and known as the Lantern. Today well-known for tourism, science and its university, the city remains an important economic hub for Italy. The medieval city center, the largest in Europe, is the pulsing heart of Genoa and manages to preserve the ancient town while maintaining the charm of a true capital city with its churches, medieval, renaissance and baroque palazzos and the tangible evidence of a glorious past. I love Genoa.
The exhibition area comprises both on land and in water shows, with 100,000 square meters of water basin surface and more than 200,000 square meters of pavilions and outdoor areas. The exhibitors (37% of which from abroad, with many of the world’s major marine manufacturer and boat builder) show usually over 2,400 sailing boats, luxury yachts, motor yachts, catamarans, sailboats, and maxi yachts. The spectrum of industries includes all types of vessels, ship components, accessories, motors and electronics as well as water sports equipment, yacht leasing and financing.
The exhibition is accompanied by various seminars, lectures and discussion sessions with leading industry experts, government representatives and opinion leaders. Topics discussed include yacht brokerage, yacht charter, yacht transport and yacht delivery within the Mediterranean and worldwide.
On my opinion, this is one of the biggest boating event in the world. Genoa International Boat Show, is a member of IFSBSO (International Federation of Boat Show Organisers).
