Cannes Yachting Festival 2019 opened all its gates on September 10 and will end on the 15th. It is by far the biggest yachting event of the year, following very close by the Monaco Yacht Show at the end of the month. It is not the first time I have mentioned this festival here, but now, a few things are improving the show. As you can read on the banner, the sailing boats are moved now to Port Canto, and the motor boats stay in Vieux Port as before. The great novelty compared with my previous review of the show is The Luxury Gallery, dedicated to luxury, crafts and lifestyle, which is located inside the Palais des Festivals.

Concours d’Élégance
For its 5th edition, the Concours d’Élégance will take place on Saturday, 14 September 2019 at 4 pm. This is a contest exclusively for motor boats and day boats of less than 12 meters which combines the presentation of an elegant crew with at least one female member, and a boat with incontestably elegant lines. This parade is an occasion to see vintage and modern day boats on show and pay tribute to the rich history of yachting in the heart of the French Riviera.
There are two categories in the parade, one withe boats built before 1980, and one with boats built after that year. Above are the 2018 winners in the pre-1980 category, with an American mahogany boat built in 1935.
