In 2019, between September 19-24, the beautiful Italian city of Genoa is the yachting capital of the world because of the Genoa International Boat Show. In 2019, the show celebrates its 59th edition. I wrote here about the show a few years back, and I thought it is now the moment for a refreshment. On the 18th also begun Le Grand Pavois de La Rochelle, one of the top three in-water boat shows in the world. September is the busiest month of the year regarding boat shows and festivals. It will culminate with the Monaco Yacht Show starting on 25th.

Genoa International Boat Show In a Whiff
At the 59th edition of Genoa International Boat Show, over one thousand boats are displayed, and 986 exhibitors try to catch your attention and money. Italy’s Marine Industry Association (UCINA), the organizers, arranged also for a lot of other events: conferences, presentations, entertaining shows, etc. Trying to be as challenging as other great shows, they offer four shows in one: a Tech Trade Show for the components and accessories sector, a Sailing Show (Sailing World), a Show for the world of outboards (Boat Discovery) and a Show dedicated exclusively to Yachts and Superyachts.
The Italian Yacht Club will organize the Millevele regatta on Sunday 22nd September at the Breitling Theatre.
Among the many additions, this year is the VIP Helicopter Service, which will allow visitors to reach the Genoa International Boat Show by helicopter, landing on a helipad inside the display area of the Show, and the online ticket office featuring a fast lane, an exclusive lane to access the Boat Show swiftly and directly.
UCINA and the ITA (Italian Trade Agency), will present for the first time 5 startups in the yachting sector, as a part of the plan to promote the “Made in Italy” Brand launched by the Italian Ministry for Economic Development. Guys promoting the Azimut brand, for example, do it by themselves, as you can notice in the video below.

Conclusion
I like Genoa as a city, I spent some time there lodged near Christopher Columbus’ house. This was my first landmark there. I arrived late in the night from the airport after a taxi dropped me in front of this cute boutique hotel. After checking in, I took a walk around, eager to have a snack and a drink before going to bed that night. I was fortunate I remembered Columbus because I never remembered the hotel’s name, so I had a hard time finding it that night. Anyway, the Genoa International Boat Show is the most important show of the Mediterranean but is less spectacular than Cannes or Southampton. I haven’t mentioned Monaco which will open in a few days, and it is my favorite of them all.
