DeepFlight was founded in 1996 by world-renowned engineer Graham Hawkes and Karen Hawkes to develop innovative underwater vehicles to expand human access into the oceans. The Company’s guiding principle has been the need to transition to underwater flight in order to truly explore and experience the oceans. Imagine diving alongside whales, sharks and dolphins; exploring uncharted shipwrecks; or hovering over pristine coral reefs. The only throwback is the price.

Amazing Personal Submarines
DeepFlight builds three types of personal submarines: The Dragon, The SuperFalcon and the Super Falcon 3S. The pictures presented in this article are a mixture of these three types.
DeepFlight provides the ideal accessory for resorts, tour operators, and superyachts owners. The submarines provide a comfortable, safe, and exciting way to explore the underwater world, enabling a one of a lifetime dive through blue space!
Deepflight Dragon
The Dragon is the first DeepFlight craft to offer hovering capability, allowing complete freedom to cruise alongside big animals or stop and hover over ancient shipwrecks. Quad brushless DC thrusters and an underwater lithium battery pack offer a quiet and efficient operation for up to 6 hours between charges.
At 1800 kg. and only 5 m. in length, the Dragon is able to fit on more yachts than any other submarine on the market, with little or no retrofit required. Launches, recovers and stores just like your tender. The company provides custom integration services, with the launch and recovery solution, included in the purchase’s price. This is not going very handy because it starts at $1.5Mil.
Deepflight Super Falcon
The Super Falcon leverages the principles and dynamics of flight by incorporating a patented inverted winged design. It is the underwater equivalent of an airplane. Diving in a Super Falcon is a radically different experience from a conventional submarine, connecting you to the blue space around you like never before.
Unlike traditional submarines with cockpits as complicated as a 747, the Super Falcon employs intuitive controls, fly-by-wire technology, and a simple layout, enabling you to dive your Super Falcon with minimal training.
At 1800 kg and only 5.9 m in length, the Super Falcon is able to fit on more yachts than any other submarine on the market (with the exception of her sister sub the Dragon), with little or no retrofit required. We provide integration services onto yachts as well as into shore-based operations, inclusive with a purchase. They say the price starts at $1.3Mil.
Deepflight Super Falcon 3s
The newest model, the Super Falcon 3S was specifically created for underwater recreation and adventure tourism. Beginning in 2017, DeepFlight Adventures, a partnership between DeepFlight and Shanghai-based Rainbowfish Ocean Technologies, will be offering piloted excursions in the Super Falcon 3S for guests at select international resorts.
The Super Falcon 3S adds a 3rd cockpit, allowing a trained pilot to take two passengers on the underwater adventure of a lifetime! Guests sit in a comfortable, form-fitting cockpit, with their legs outstretched, enjoying a 360 degree view of the amazing ocean world around them.

With a price tag in excess of $1.3 million for a single craft, DeepFlight’s primary target has, until now, been superyacht owners, but the company is now attempting to reach a broader customer base through the luxury resorts and offshore expeditions market, similar to guests booking a helicopter tour – only the tour starts right off the beach of the resort.
The first resort locations are set to be Hawaii, Maldives, Caribbean, and French Polynesia, with first resort dives scheduled to open in 2017.
